love letter to dragonfly đź’Ś

little bearer of impossible light,
you arrive as though the afternoon
has remembered a secret
it has been carrying for centuries.
you do not land so much
as persuade the air
to hold you.
your wings - four clear prayers
stitched from sunlight and silence -
tremble with a language
too delicate for human mouths.
I have felt rivers
trying to become as graceful as you.
I have listened to the wind
practice your name
through reeds and willow leaves.
how come you weigh less
than a promise
yet carry whole summers
between your shimmering shoulders?
