back in school I noticed a lack of interest when it came to tackling the magic of punctuation marks. I totally understand that commas, full stops and their friends might seem boring and even unfathomable at times… but only as long as one hasn‘t experienced how soulful and lively they are, how salty they can be, especially when put in spots where they surprise their readers. so we started to explore the compassionate nature of punctuation marks as this discovery makes them really come alive. the talks and discussions were always most inspiring and full of new perspectives for me, leaving me very grateful. here‘s a beautiful example of a compassionate comma - it‘s in the last but one line of lydia davis‘ touching poem. I hope one day the compassionate comma will be found in any grammar reference book. I strongly believe in it 😉
